Workshop Deliverables

  • Understand the federal SES hiring process
  • Identify your ECQs and the 28 Leadership Competencies
  • Develop, articulate and write executive level work experiences and accomplishments
  • Develop and write the new Five-Page SES Federal Resume
  • Prepare and respond to Technical Qualifications
  • Prepare and practice for the SES Behavior Based Structured Interview (Mock Interviews & Video Playback)
  • Post-course:  5 hours of professional editorial review for either Five-Page SES Federal Resume ($1,000 value)

Participants Will Learn How To:

  • Gain knowledge of the Senior Executive Service and Executive Leadership selection process; understand how the SES hiring process is managed by agencies and OPM
  • Optimize their ability to articulate leadership
  • Identify their ECQs and the corresponding 28 Leadership Competencies
  • Use OPM’s preferred Challenge‐Context‐Action‐Result (CCAR) model to write about their Executive Core Qualifications
  • Think up the organizational ladder
  • Articulate in writing their decision‐making and leader styles, and learn about Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and Executive Accomplishment Writing
  • Understand the SES Five-Page Resume-Based application and the Traditional executive application packages
  • Understand the varied application procedures for SES applications.
  • Develop and write the new Five-Page SES Federal Resume
  • Prepare for and present their qualifications in the SES Structured/Behavior‐Based interview
  • FORMAT: Computer training. Attendees should bring a laptop, along with their resume, Top Ten accomplishments, (pre‐workshop homework) and other relevant documents.
  • One-hour pre-class teleconference
  • 5 hours post-class editorial guidance
